The Builders Association of Elkhart County (BAEC) is pleased to invite you to the Neighborhood Showcase, October 4,5,11,12. 

Information about the 17 neighborhoods and the homes in those neighborhoods are previewed in this website. The event is free to the public, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., and is an excellent two-weekend opportunity to purchase a lot for future building, or buy a home and be in before the holidays. 

And speaking of the website, our newest feature is our Green Building page, which identifies different ways green building practices are employed in homes.  In many of the categories our members have featured their green building products and services. 

Visit it and consider how you can use some of those practices into your new or existing home.  The website is also very helpful in directing you to the products and services of all 400+ members of the association.  Our “hits” show us you are using it!

The Builders Association of Elkhart County has partnered with the Elkhart County Board of Realtors in a campaign to encourage building, buying, or remodeling your home now.  It’s never been a better time to consider this, especially since our market is more stable, and new home prices and construction costs have remained consistent, and interest rates are at their lowest in years. 

One word of caution…  When you are ready to buy, build, or remodel be sure to ask the contractor questions that will help you make a better decision.  Is the contract concise about the materials and the labor involved?  How will you handle change orders?  Have you been given referrals from other recent satisfied customers?  Does the contractor carry a Worker’s Compensation policy? If not accidents on your project could be homeowner responsibility. Get more than one quotation on your project. The lowest price does not always assure the best job.  BAEC members abide by a Code of Ethics and builder members use the Indiana Quality Assurance Builder Standards to guide you through the building process. Consider a BAEC member first!
